This place is the best in Bensonhurst! Its very bright and clean! The workers in there speak English and they got a great selection of bagels and cold cuts and yummy drinks. I love this place.

everytime i come here i have to have an everything bagel ( or whole wheat when im trying to feel better abt eating carbs and cream cheese) with the veggie cream cheese. the bagels are a little smaller than usual but i dont mind because theyre so good. ive also had a wrap here but it wasnt that good.

When you think of a NY bagel you should think of their bagels. This store provides what native New Yorkers know is the real thing. Established in 1983 this family owned deli will ship their bagels anywhere in the country.

awesome service. been coming to them for the past 11 years. never disappointed. love the workers. they are always friendly and CLEAN!!! BIG PLUS FOR THE CLEANINESS.

Bagels are incredibly fresh! They are also pretty big which is a good deal compared to the ones you get in Manhattan. Their breakfast sandwiches are a great value bc they make it fresh as you order it and they pack on the meat -so you are getting your money's worth. Their coffee has gotten pretty expensive, but its very flavorful (I think it kinda taste like hazelnut). I LOVE this place and come at least 2 to 3 x a week!

Ordered a toasted Everything cream cheese bagel with jelly. The bagel itself was wonderful , light and crispy. But the cream cheese' texture was a bit too whipped for my liking. The jelly was light and sweet. Overall the quality of the bagel was really good for its price. I would consider coming to this place only if I'm around the area. I don't usually eat bagels in the morning but this morning my friend decided to get some and I was hungry so why not?

Come here and order the everything bagel, chicken cutlet, LTO with mayo and you will not be disappointed.

I lived on the block right next to Tasty Bagel for 9 years and have spent a lot of money here. Their prices are pretty outrageous for a bagel and sandwich shop in the middle-of-nowhere Brooklyn, but once you try a freshly made bagel you'll understand why. My regular order of a toasted plain bagel with scallion cream cheese costs almost $3 (the same order at the deli by my job in Manhattan is $1.75). If you have friends and family visiting from out of town, order a dozen and get some pints of cream cheese. In the summer, order sandwiches here for picnics.

Stopped in here on my way to JFK to grab a bag of NY bagels for Wakako U back in SF. Of course, I had to get an everything with scallion cream cheese so I could rate the place myself. It was as good a bagel as any I've had in Manhattan without all the hectic hype of, say, an H&H or Essa Bagel. Of course, I'll probably never find myself way out here again, but glad I stopped and tried Tasty.

Mediocre at best, I ordered a sesame bagel w/cream cheese and tomato, what I got was a tasteless dry bagel w/a slobber of cream cheese and slices of unripe tomato half green. This place is unorganized, poorly displayed and bagels are hidden from sight, the food display looks unappetizing too. When there's no passion it shows...

I've been going here for years-- even used to have family bring bagels from here to the Poconos when I was a kid! Their bagels are amazing, sandwiches are great-- FULL of meat and condiments-- they don't skimp on anything!!! The use only boar's head cold cuts which is great quality. The staff is friendly, fun and fast. Overall this is the best bagel place in town!

The bagels here are undeniably above average. Customer service seems shotty, the men behind the counter always seem like their lost in their own conversation or just plain lazy. I have had better tasting bagels from Whole Foods called JUST BAGELS. Tasty bagels isnt chewy enough for me.

Best bagels in Brooklyn. Hands down used to come here before going to school, grab breakfast and class. Now I come here before work almost on a weekly basis. The lines may get long at times but that's cause the food is that good.

I was visiting from SF staying at my brother's place nearby and he suggested I try some of Brooklyn's famous bagels. Walked in and loved the mom/pop vibe! The lady, who I'd assume to be the restaurant owner, was very sweet and I felt comfortable despite my noobiness at New York Bagel ordering. I got the eggs and bacon breakfast bagel and it was delicious. If I had to complain the ketchup was a bit much but aside from that, the bagel itself was soft yet crusty (?) and was just unlike any bagel I have had in SF. If I lived around here, this would probably be my go-to breakfast spot (but then again this is the only breakfast spot I'd been to). If you're visiting New York and don't want to go to some expensive "Best New York Bagel In New York!" place, try this!

Me: "Toasted everything with scallion cream cheese, please." Italian Dude: "Sure. You want tomato on that?" Me: .......................*Squints* ************************ Yo I got a tomato on that. "How about salt and pepper?" I got some salt and pepper on that. And my new favorite bagel creation was born. My brother frequented Tasty Bagels since childhood, and when craving "REAL" breakfast (oh, NYC) it's his (and now, my) go-to. The best in the neighborhood. Their breakfast sandwiches does depend on who makes them, I'll admit -- so far the tastiest bacon egg and cheeses are made by Italian Dude.

Definitely brings back memories of when I woud come here after middle school and grab a toasted bagel with cream cheese and bacon. Once your order is taken, it doesn't take long for the food to be prepared and you can even watch your bagel being toasted and prepared right at the counter. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. I tried some flan that they had in the fridge but it wasn't as tasty as other flans that I have tasted before. The muffin tops are really good and I'm glad that they are able to make their own bagels everyday. Haven't been here in years but I will definitely be back to grab some breakfast soon!

    (4)
  • Jenny M.

Their bagels are definitely banging, especially with all of the cream cheese selections. And their well known muffin tops are really great! They are a little pricier for a bagel store than most Bensonhurst delis. Sometimes they have a table or two outside where you can sit.

Great bagels (always fresh) and food. My only complaint is they do not take debit or credit. I think that's a little inconvenient for the customer and really should be accepted.

They weren't kidding when they named their store Tasty bagels. My bf and I decided to come here for some coffee and bagel. Thanks to good reviews in yelp, we came here and we were not disappointed. Today was the first time I came here and I am proud to say that I will be coming back for more. The coffee was delicious too, just the way I like it light no sugar. Sometimes, in other stores even when I ask for light they make my coffee dark, but not here! Also, the service was fast and the worker who took our order was friendly. We got a plain toasted bagel with jelly, it was great!

My stomach rumbled as I strolled the streets at 6:00 AM - ravenous from not eating much the night before. Cue Tasty Bagels beckoning to my rumbling tummy: "Fresh bagels! Coffee!" I walked in to no crowd and a few guys working behind the counter. I couldn't find a description for the types of bagels they had so I asked them directly if they had blueberry with low-fat cream cheese (my fave). Thankfully, they did and began to prep my breakfast immediately after I ordered. My eyes wandered briefly as I waited and stopped when I saw a man working on bagels and preparing them. The ravenous appetite began to dwindle as I watched him drag what looked like soggy bagels through water and slap them down flat. It was not a visually-appealing process by any means. I began sipping away on the coffee after I paid (total was less than $3 for a coffee and bagel w cream cheese) and found they put way too much sugar for that small cup; not to mention, it was also warm and not hot which meant it had been sitting out. Other than that, it was a nice brew and I did enjoy the taste. I broke off a piece of the bagel and I was very pleasantly surprised at how good of a bagel it was. I could feel a springyness in each bite that I simply haven't tasted in a bagel before. Taste was not lacking either ... This is probably the result of the dragging through water and palm-slapping mentioned earlier. Keep that up if it's going to taste like this! A hot cup of coffee is my only requested change for my return visit.

My wife and I love this place. The food is always great. We've had some standard breakfast sandwiches like bacon, egg & cheese, some unique knishes like their broccoli and cheddar knishes and awesome rice balls. We've come to get their antipasto salad once a week since we moved to Bensonhurst. On top of having delicious food, the staff is pretty friendly as well. This place caters as well.

My girlfriend from the Bronx has to stop by here anytime she is in my neighborhood for an everything bagel with cream cheese and jelly and an ice coffee. This 86st bagel institution has stood the test of time for quite a few years, when the 13th avenue bagel shops started to suck and/or close, and the one on New Utrecht overcharging for not great bagels,Tasty is still the hands down number one option in the area.

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. I had great service. Great Bagels. Boars Head meats....pretty awesome too. Employees were friendly and real. I wish this place could come back to Chicago with me.

Workers are not to friendly. You have to give your order 2-3 times and then they will ask again what you want on your bagel. Prices are ridiculous for Bath Beach. Do they think they are Down Town NY? Yes, the bagel is good, but not worth your time.

    (1)
  • Frank L.

Bagels are just ok here kind of on the small side compared to other bagel shops. They have boars head meats. And the place is always busy so you know your getting fresh cold cuts. Very clean and great service. There are other bagels in the neighborhood that are a lot bigger and taste better.

You hear a lot how Brooklyn sets the standard of bagel making through their rich history of the bagel making process. I came here based on the few but stellar yelp reviews from the locals in the area. I consider myself a bagel connoisseur so I know a little bit of what I'm talking about. Check out my bagel reviews. After eating here it's clear that this place is surviving on rep rather than quality. This is one of those typical, hole-in-the-wall bagel establishments that claims to have a long legacy of bagel making. I walked in here to Mexican synthesizer music playing and workers that barely spoke English. Not a problem, but not a group known for their bagel making skills. Wasn't surprised to see a couple Latin restaurants and taco shops on the block. Now that I've set the scene, on to the actual bagels themselves. Nowhere are the types of bagels listed. You just have to know. They aren't even in plain view. They are behind the counter, behind the worker activity. As far as "assortment of cream cheeses" go: they had three specialty cream cheeses. That's it. I ordered and everything bagel with jalapeño cheddar cream cheese. It was good but nothing that these amazing reviews made it out to be. Usually when you get to a bagel place early, you are garanteed a bagel that is hot and newly made. I came in a 630am and the bagel was cold. Hard to believe. They must be doing something right because the local brooklynites were lining up for these bagels. It is believed that the reason why NYC bagels are so good is because of the water. In this case, it is the drinking water because there has to be something in it that makes all the locals think that this is a really great bagel place when it's just average at best.

Joined the early stream of customers at 6am, great bagels with a soft chewy and not too dense interior and a crunchy exterior (especially after a nice toasting).

So, I'm sitting at my desk when an email pops up from a coworker. The subject line: sandwiches He said there were extra sandwiches left over from a training session. I said I had just finished my lunch. He said "But they're from Tasty Bagel in BK" So, not knowing anything about Tasty Bagel, I went downstairs. I grabbed an Italian slice and headed back to my desk with the intention of bringing my sandwich home for dinner. It didn't last. The roll loaded with toppings (ham, swiss, turkey, provolone & mozzarella) looked so good I had to take a bite. And, as you may have guessed, 5 minutes later the sandwich slice was gone. And it was good. Really really good. The bread? Fresh & so soft. The meats & cheeses? Sliced & combined perfectly. Will I visit next time I'm in Bensonhurst? Absolutely.

What I love about this place is that everything they carry is spot on, unlike a lot of places with great bagels but horrible heroes or great pastries but terrible bagels, etc. The bagels are great; large, doughy not dry, ample amounts of toppings without going overboard. The pastries are also great; they carry a variety of muffin tops and really good homemade coffee crumb cake as well as the other usual's. The Peter Luger sandwich is just amazing. They use fresh mozzarella of course but that's a given for this area. The tuna salad is great. Their grilled chicken sandwiches and cutlets are a little bland but at least they aren't overcooked or greasy. They have a really large variety of bottled drinks to choose from. Best of all, they are really nice and while it can get crowded in there, they take their time with each order.

I don't know what the reviewers who gave this place 4-5 stars have been smoking. The bagels at this place are terrible. I moved to the area a bit over a year ago, and I'm very disappointed with the quality of food in the area. This place is by no means an exception. The bagels are tasteless, the cream-cheeses just taste bad. Their cold cuts are limited... And their "hot food" is just as bad. Not to mention the staff seem a little bit slow, and mess up your order quite a lot. In all honesty their doesn't seem to be a decent place to get bagels in the Bath Beach\Dyker Heights area... Most of the time I end up going to Bagel Boy in Bay Ridge when the craving hits.. And who doesn't accept credit cards in this day and age? They're worried about a 6 cent processing fee???

Although not a big place, they have some of the best tasting bagels around! I sometimes drop by here when on my way to the park and get breakfast. The bagels are freshly baked on site and they have every kind you can imagine. Also, when I have come here for a sandwich, the cold cuts are also fresh. Plus, they pack on the meat too which means you get more than what you pay for. Their prices are good so it's all the more reason to keep coming back. Service is quick, but they pay attention to what you order and make sure it's made right. Only downside is the parking situation and it can get crowded at time because they are not a large location. Parking is on the street with meters and most people just double park but it's on a major 4 lane street so it can get hectic.

When i get my list of top Bagel joints in Brooklyn together Tast Bagels will be right up at the top. Their bagels are amazing, nice and chewey the way i like them. Their bacon cheddar cream cheese is outstanding and their assortment of bagel/hero sandwiches is superb. The italian style chicken cutlet sandwich is great or just a basic hoiney glazed turkey andwich will do, and they stak the meat on high! They also have a small selection of rice balls, cold wraps to go, muffins and italian pizza egg rolls which are great. Prices are a little high but worth it if you are not making it a daily visit.

Been coming here for years. Bagels and the food in general is very good Not giving it 5 stars as there's often one slight issue or another. On the most recent visit there was less bacon than expected on the bacon and egg on rolls. Usually there's plenty. The manager also doesn't seem to want to greet me as a regular or look me in the eye for an unfathomable reason. She does this with others. I've never had or caused an issue here. Sometimes very early in the morning there is loud Spanish hip-hop music or the coffee is not quite up to snuff. These are minor quibbles though. Very good quality food and most of the servers are excellent - especially the short guy who is there early on.

I'm a confirmed Bagel Boy lover (3rd Ave. & 80th St.). The Yelp reviews for Tasty Bagels prompted us to give them a try. This is a very good bagel. The flavor is wonderful, almost like a mild sourdough. BUT - the texture is a little too soft, and the toppings are not as generously applied as with Bagel Boy, whose chewy bagels remain for me the gold standard in the area. Four stars for Tasty Bagels, but after trying theirs, I've upgraded Bagel Boy's bagels to 5 stars.

Do you know why this place is called Tasty Bagels? IT'S BECAUSE THEY MAKE ONE DAMN TASTY BAGEL. Yes, these are the delicious, crusty-on-the-outside, chewy-on-the-inside, bready delights I grew up with. I remember my grandfather going out in the morning to bring me "Tasty Bagel" before I went to school. My favorite was, and still is, an everything bagel, toasted with butter. Mmm. Still, every time I'm in Brooklyn I make sure to grab a dozen of these guys and bring them home for consumption during the week (or that night). When it comes to bagels, once you go Brooklyn... you never find a bagel as good. So you're forced to come back. Damn you, Tasty Bagels.

By far the best bagels in Bensonhurst. The scallion cream cheese is pretty yummy too! Service was efficient and I was in and out in no time.

Had to come visit the birthplace of the flagel in Bensonhurst! Everything flagel with butter was amazing. Almost had to deduct a star for the guy behind the counter wearing a Red Sox hat. Come on dude!

  • Lisa H.

Their bagels are delicious! Definitely made fresh in the store. The bagels are always chewy, not stiff and tough like other places. Although, they're quite pricey so I'm taking away a star for that. $6 for a tuna melt on a bagel is not that worth it because after all, it's just a bagel. But I def come here to order sandwiches for picnics and parties, etc.

Birthplace of the flagel, or the "flat bagel" for the uninitiated ;), Tasty Bagels is hard to beat! I like to start my mornings with the raisin flagel and cream cheese, slightly toasted. Yum! Those raisin flagels are hot-sellers, and on any given morning, you better get your butt over there early to wrap your lips around those babies! : )

I called trying to place an order for pick up and the guy on the phone was like "i cant help you right now you have to wait, i have a line at the door" I understand your busy but there has to be better service for people when they call in. Plus whats up with the 800 number? And the automated system? When calling a local business i expect to get a live person on the phone not some machine. Having an 800 number is to impersonal when your selling bagels to the community. At least their bagels aren't bad.

Tasty Bagels is hands down the best bagel shop in the area. It's a real neighborhood deli run by real neighborhood guys. Try the rice balls too!

I've been living in NYC all of my life and havent tasted bagels like these. They have different varieties of bagels as well as different spreads. I usually get a bagel with cream cheese and lox and they have never failed. Their coffee is also a given. Their coffee does not have a bitter taste nor a watery consistency. Just perfect. Eversince I've gotten my bagels from here, no other place can compare.
